Head of School
Taurean Kennedy received her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Brooklyn College, where she developed a strong foundation in critical thinking and analytical skills. She then pursued her passion for education by earning a Master’s degree in Education with a concentration in Students with Disabilities from Mercy College. Currently, Taurean is dedicated to furthering her academic pursuits and is enrolled in a Doctoral program at Northcentral University, focusing on educational leadership and innovation.
Taurean holds dual certification from New York State in Elementary Education and Students with Disabilities, reflecting her comprehensive qualifications and commitment to supporting diverse student needs. With over 20 years of experience in education, Taurean’s career has been marked by a variety of roles in public, private, and charter schools. She started her career as a dedicated Special Education teacher, where her nurturing approach and tailored instructional methods have positively impacted countless students, staff and families. Transitioning into leadership, Taurean was a Dean of Students. In that role Taurean served as a pivotal link between students, faculty, and the broader school community, striving to ensure the holistic development and well-being of each student. For the last 7 years Taurean has excelled as a seasoned Head of School, demonstrating strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of school management and community engagement. Taurean lives by the proverb “it takes a village” emphasizing collaboration to support students and families effectively.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Taurean finds immense joy in her role as the proud mother of four beautiful daughters and her loving marriage of 18 years. Her family serves as her greatest source of motivation and inspiration, grounding her commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive school community. Taurean’s personal experiences as a wife and mother enhance her understanding of family dynamics and strengthen her dedication to nurturing a positive school environment.
In her spare time, Taurean enjoys exploring her culinary talents through cooking and entertaining guests. She finds fulfillment in creating memorable experiences and enjoys playing games with her family and friends, fostering strong bonds and cherished moments.
