The Upper School at Tribeca Preparatory is designed for students who thrive in a highly individualized learning environment while preparing for greater independence, confidence, and real world readiness.
The middle school years are a time when students are not only building academic knowledge but also learning how to manage themselves as learners. Organization, planning, and the ability to approach increasingly complex work begin to matter just as much as academic content. Our Upper School program supports this transition by combining strong academics with explicit executive functioning instruction and individualized support.
Students participate in small group academic classes that are tailored to their learning profiles and strengths. Alongside core subjects, students take part in executive functioning classes where they practice practical skills such as planning assignments, organizing materials, managing time, starting tasks, and thinking flexibly when challenges arise. These skills are introduced directly and practiced consistently throughout the school day so that students can begin applying them more independently.
The program also places significant value on social development and communication. Students work on collaboration, self advocacy, and navigating peer relationships within a structured and supportive environment where these skills can be practiced regularly.
Related services can be integrated into the school day when appropriate. Speech therapy, occupational therapy, and counseling support the broader academic program so that students receive consistent guidance across learning, emotional development, and skill building.
A central focus of the Upper School is helping students build confidence in their growing independence. Through guided projects, executive functioning practice, and opportunities to take increasing ownership of their work, students develop habits that support both academic success and everyday functioning.
At Tribeca Preparatory the Upper School represents more than simply the next set of grades. It is a thoughtfully developed program designed to strengthen academic skills while helping students grow in executive functioning, social awareness, and independence that will serve them well beyond the classroom.
